The Alphax Firefly came to life in 1992 as the creation of David Golightly. Immediately after its introduction in 1993 it was apparent that this Fiat Panda based kitcar, would be a keeper and a winner. The car was tested severly by both the kitcar press as the general automotive press and received great acclaim. Following the introduction, the Firefly was manufactured by Onyx. Since 2005 Alphax is the manufacturer of the Firefly. The car has been reintroduced to the British market and the European market as the Alphax Firefly.

Currently over fifty Firefly's have been produced. The sporty appearance, good handling and the good value for money has impressed many. Throughout the years there have been several upgrades to further improve this car. The front suspension has been improved, the bumper has been separated from the bonnet and the car gained a few inches in the front. Furthermore it is now possible to have a lefthand drive as well as a righthand drive car.

With great driving qualities the Firefly reacts like a true sportscar, both on the handling, acceleration and driving pleasure.

The Alphax Firefly is a sportscar that you can build yourself at home. The chassis is fully prepared to accept the parts or the Fiat Panda donor. The engine and gearbox can even use the stock engine mounts. The rear axle is easily bolted on to the Firefly and installing the front suspension has never been this easy. The only part that need slight modification is the wiringloom, the heating and the brake system. The bodywork consists out of 17 pieces of glassfiber reinforced polyester. The bodywork kit includes all panels needed to build the car including inner door panels and wheelarch covering. The pieces come in a grey sanding gelcoat finish, which is specially designed for being spraypainted. The interior and the dashboard are let for the builder to add their own inspiration and give this car its unique personality.

Once completed with building, the Firefly needs to pass UK Single Approval Test. After this test it receives a single type approval which is accepted in all EU countries.
